Prepare for a career in academic inpatient OB/GYN medicine with a focus on acute care obstetrics as a graduate of the OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship.
The OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship program is designed to prepare the OB/GYN physician for a career in academic medicine with significant expertise in the management of acute care obstetric patients, while training in a high volume, high acuity referral center.
Our program seeks to train experts who will be leaders in this growing subspecialty, with a focus on quality improvement and reducing disparities in care for patients in the hospital setting. In depth experience will be provided with focused rotations on our inpatient antepartum care team as well as with our surgical ICU team.
Training will be further broadened by experience with fellowship-trained obstetric anesthesiologists, surgical experience with our award-winning MIGS division, and hands-on training with our world-renowned ultrasound experts. This is a one-year non-ACGME accredited program with a start date of July 2025.
During rotations through the OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship at EVMS, the trainee will:
- Gain hands-on experience training as a hospitalist while focusing on the management of patients in an acute care setting.
- Participate in quality improvement meetings and conduct a QI initiative under the direct mentorship of faculty.
- Participate in formal and informal teaching sessions for the MFM fellows and assist with medical student and resident didactics/curriculum.
