By Nick Payne
Directed by Melissa Mowry
April 9, 10, 11, 12 | 7:30 pm
Goode Theatre, 4601 Monarch Way

This spellbinding, romantic journey begins with a simple encounter between two people 鈥 a beekeeper and a theoretical physicist 鈥 at a party. In that single moment, an unfathomable multitude of possibilities unfold. Their chance meeting might blossom into a joyful relationship, a challenging one, a brief affair, or to nothing at all.

Early on, the two characters discuss the multiverse theory 鈥 the idea that there are countless parallel worlds, and for every decision we make in this world, there鈥檚 another world that exists where we made another decision. Each person鈥檚 every choice will change the next thread as they weave their life鈥檚 tapestry together, and we are privileged to watch these tapestries unfold with so many alternate colors and patterns.

In this clever, eloquent and moving story, their romance spins out across a multiverse full of possible lifetimes, capturing the extraordinary richness of the lives we weave.

In a world of cubicles and code, fate still pulls the strings鈥攍iterally.

Banished to a modern office tower after angering Zeus, the ancient Greek Fates now work in secret among mortals, spinning, measuring, and snipping the threads of life one by one, weaving the infinite tapestry of humanity.

Atropos, the by-the-book sister who cuts each thread at its destined end, takes pride in her precision鈥攗ntil a chance encounter with a kind-hearted security guard unravels her perfectly ordered world. As romantic sparks fly, the rules of the Universe fray, and her bond with her sisters pulls apart at the seams.

Smart, whimsical, and pulsing with heart, String is a contemporary musical that weaves myth, romance, and sisterhood into a tale about love, control, and what happens when the balance of the universe hangs by a single thread.
