Join Gordon Art Galleries Curator, Jasper Waugh-Quasebarth, for a talk and walkthrough of the exhibition River of Earth: Meaning and Material in Self-Taught Art from Appalachia. The talk will tie together the flows of poetry, art, and coal that led to the curation of the exhibition, while focusing on the unique approaches to materials in the exhibited art and their place in Appalachian landscapes and folkways. Jasper will discuss the resonances, frictions, and conviviality that arose while curating the Gordon Self-Taught Art Collection through a new lens.
