The Research Society was founded in 2020 with the mission to connect interested students with research opportunities. The Society assists with the entire process of finding a research proposal, exploring funding for personal projects, showcasing research results, and networking with faculty and staff mentors.

Research Society Leaders
Aryn Alanizi, Secretary
My name is Aryn and I am a second-year medical student at our school. I'm passionate about biomedical research and its role in shaping the way medicine is practiced. I grew up in sunny Southern California and enjoy hiking, running, reading, and finding the next best burrito!
Emily Behling, Events Director
My name is Emily and I'm excited to serve on the ERS exec board this year. I enjoy hanging out with friends at coffee shops, watercolor painting, and going to the beach! I'm originally from Minnesota and attended a small liberal arts college outside the Twin Cities. My research interests include pediatrics and radiology. I'm excited to see everyone at the ERS events this year!
Mia Cranmer, Treasurer
I am a second-year medical student, originally from Wareham, Massachusetts. I completed my Bachelor's in Biology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and my Master's in Biomedical Sciences here. My research interests include surgery and neuroscience. I wanted to be involved with ERS because connecting students with opportunities that interest them and will support their future is important to me. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, video games, weightlifting, and spending time with my two dogs.
Gear Thomas Vincent, Events Director
I'm a second year medical student interested in surgical specialties. I'm currently exploring vascular surgery and learning a lot through the Vascular Surgery Research Initiative at Norfolk General Hospital.
My research interests are currently pesticides, Pulmonary Embolisms, AV Fistulas, and AI generative imaging. I've also teamed up with a resident to begin a surgical library to document rare and complex vascular surgery cases within the training program.
The Research Society is an expanding network of research-focused resources with the target of connecting interested medical students with research opportunities.
It aims to bridge the gap between students who may or may not know how to design a research proposal, discover funding for personal projects, showcase research results and network with mentors in research.
